40% Of Americans Think Trump Is “Not Cleared” Of Collusion By Mueller, 29% Think He’s “Cleared,” New Poll Finds

Special Counsel Robert Mueller may have found that President Donald Trump did not collude with Russia during the 2016 election, but an overwhelming number of Americans think Trump is not yet in the clear in this probe.

According to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, 40 percent of voters believe the president is not yet fully cleared, while 29 percent say they think Trump is in the clear.

A third of Americans — 31 percent — said they are unsure whether or not Trump is in the clear. Mueller has not yet reached a conclusion on obstruction of justice, even though Attorney General William Barr has exonerated the president on this front. This figure includes 45 percent of independents, 27 percent of Democrats and 25 percent of Republicans.

House Democrats are reportedly preparing to subpoena Mueller’s complete report — which is nearly 400 pages long — while Barr has said the full findings will likely be publicly released by mid-April or sooner.

The survey also found only 39 percent of Americans said they have heard “a lot” regarding the story of the special counsel unveiling his final report. This represents a smaller proportion of people who said they had heard “a lot” about other Trump-related stories, like his firing of FBI Director James Comey in May 2017 (56 percent) or the release of the infamous Access Hollywood tape (66 percent).

Trump’s current approval rating stands at 43 percent, a figure that did not change substantially following the release of Mueller’s key Russia probe conclusions. In February, the president’s approval rating peaked at 46 percent.
