Anthony Scaramucci Says Trump Is “Sounding More And More Nonsensical,” No Longer Backs 2020 Re-election Bid

Anthony Scaramuccithe former White House communications director, said in an interview on Monday he no longer backs President Donald Trump‘s 2020 re-election campaign.

WATCH BETO TAKEDOWN TRUMP:

Speaking to CNN’s John Berman, Scaramucci — a former hedge fund manager who up until recently strongly supported Trump — said he believes the president’s mental stability is gradually deteriorating. Scaramucci also recently blasted Trump for his bigoted rhetoric and his visits to Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas, the site of two mass shootings earlier this month. Scaramucci called the trips a “catastrophe” and Trump lashed out at his former communications director. Scaramucci follows Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen in severely criticizing and distancing himself from the real estate mogul and former Apprentice star.

“The guy’s actually dissembling a little bit, and he’s sounding more and more nonsensical,” Scaramucci said of Trump on CNN. “And, you know, we’re sort anesthetized to it.”

Berman pressed Scaramucci on whether he supported Trump’s 2020 re-election bid, and the former hedge fund manager known as “the Mooch” said he believes a change is needed at the top of the Republican ticket for next year’s presidential election, although he stopped short of suggesting a possible replacement candidate.

“I think you have to consider a change at the top of the ticket when someone is acting like this,” said Scaramucci. “Let’s watch how this unfolds.”

He continued: “He goes after individuals as the President of the United States on his Twitter account, ok, which incites hate, which incites death threats.”

“The racially charged comments, the divisive tweeting, the nonsense coming from the President is not helping the country,” Scaramucci added.

Scaramucci is known for his brief, weeklong stint in the White House in July 2017, which ended after The New Yorker revealed a profanity-laced tirade he launched against then-Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and then-chief White House strategist Steve Bannon

In an overtime discussion on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher over the weekend, Scaramucci also said he believes the Democratic Party should select a young nominee for the 2020 presidential election. After host Bill Maher asked him which Democratic contender Trump should fear the most, Scaramucci specifically named Sen. Kamala Harris (D-California) and South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg as two examples of candidates he believed could stand a chance at defeating Trump.
