President Donald Trump lashed out at the Justice Department on Twitter on Wednesday morning, calling the legal system “rigged” and threatening to use his executive “powers” to make sure the department is effectively responding to lawmakers.
Some Republican congressmen have also blasted the Justice Department for not meeting their demands for documents they claim are crucial to help them lead oversight.
“Why such unequal ‘justice?’ At some point I will have no choice but to use the powers granted to the Presidency and get involved!” Trump tweeted.

Rosenstein, whom many officials have feared Trump will fire along with Mueller, said Tuesday that the Justice Department will not be “extorted” in any way.
According to the New York Times, Representative Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, one of the two Republican chairmen of the House Oversight Committee, stated Wednesday that he felt “satisfied” that his committee and the Judiciary Committee now holds access to documents it needs pertaining to a continuing joint probe into decisions the Justice Department has made over the past two years.
One person who responded to Trump’s “rigged system” tweet was porn star Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti.
“A Rigged System – You don’t want to turn over the Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) to Congress or the American people,” Avenatti mocked Trump in a tweet. What are you afraid of? Why so much hiding and unequal “justice?” At some point THE PEOPLE will have no choice but to use their powers and get involved! #basta.”
