President Donald Trump is known for quickly becoming defensive and refusing to admit his mistakes when called out for them, and this week he did it again regarding a comment about Apple CEO Tim Cook.
During a meeting with businesses leaders last week, Trump sat beside Cook and accidentally called the executive “Tim Apple,” thus drawing widespread mockery. Cook even appeared to have taken the flub in stride, as he changed his name on Twitter to “Tim Apple,” using an emoji of his company’s logo for his last name. Meanwhile, Trump grew angry and again accused the media of misrepresenting his words, saying he did not use Cook’s real name because he simply wanted to “save time & words.”
“At a recent round table meeting of business executives, & long after formally introducing Tim Cook of Apple, I quickly referred to Tim + Apple as Tim/Apple as an easy way to save time & words,” Trump tweeted Monday morning. “The Fake News was disparagingly all over this, & it became yet another bad Trump story!”

Many late-night comedians, radio hosts and other media figures quickly noted the irony of Trump claiming to be saving time and words despite the fact that he took the time to write a lengthy tweet to defend his mistake.
The Daily Show also tweeted a video poking fun at Trump’s inability to remember people’s names correctly, presenting the compilation as a fake game show called “Name that Person.”
Ivanka Trump appeared to find the video funny, as she replied to it by tweeting three laughing face emojis.
Trump reportedly made the same mistake with Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson last year, calling her “Marillyn Lockheed.”
