Paul Manafort, Trump’s former 2016 campaign chairman, pleaded guilty in August to bank and tax fraud, among multiple other charges in two separate cases. He was then revealed to have been repeatedly lying to investigators about his contacts with Russia and about his secret meetings with WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange even after taking a plea deal from prosecutors.
