President Donald Trump’s re-election committee has spent more than 20 % of its funds on legal fees in just the first three and a half months of this year, per several reports.
According to the Federal Election Commission, Trump’s committee has spent more than $834,000 out of $3.9 million in the first quarter of 2018 on law firms and attorney fees.
The president and his legal team continue to deal with special counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, in addition to the fallout of revelations that Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen paid porn star $130,000 to force her silence on an affair Trump had with her in 2006.
Several of Trump’s attorneys in the Russia probe have resigned, citing the president’s continued refusal to obey advice. The lead lawyer in the investigation, John Dowd, resigned in March for this reason.

SLIDESHOW: DONALD TRUMP’S 30 CRAZIEST TWEETS
The FEC reports that the Trump campaign’s total expenditures of legal fees are now at nearly $4 million since he took office.
Reports also show that the vast majority of legal payments in the first quarter of 2018 — approximately $348,000 — went to Jones Day, a law firm representing the campaign in the probes by Mueller and several congressional committees into Russian meddling in 2016.
Daniels sued Cohen and Trump in March, claiming the non-disclosure agreement she and Trump settled in 2016 about their affair is invalid because the president never signed it.
At a hearing in a New York court on Monday, it was also revealed that Cohen has performed clandestine legal work for Fox News commentator Sean Hannity.
In addition, reports have shown that Trump’s campaign has spent almost $127,000 in 2018 at his private properties, including Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., Trump Restaurants and Trump Tower in New York.
Finally, Trump’s committee also disbursed almost $1.7 million for online advertising services and digital consulting to Parscale Strategy. This firm is owned by Brad Parscale, Trump’s 2020 campaign manager. Parscale served as digital director for the president’s 2016 campaign.
