President Donald Trump quoted an Evangelical pastor in a tweet on Sunday to say he believes his impeachment would lead to a “civil war” and one Republican congressman blasted Trump for the post.
“If the Democrats are successful in removing the President from office (which they will never be), it will cause a Civil War like fracture in this Nation from which our Country will never heal,” Trump wrote citing Southern Baptist Pastor Robert Jeffress, who made the remark in an interview on Fox News over the weekend.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Illinois), an Iraq War veteran, quickly rebuked Trump for his comment. Kinzinger noted his experiences traveling abroad and seeing countries torn apart by civil wars before calling Trump’s tweet “beyond repugnant.”
Several other people on Twitter also condemned Trump for his tweet quoting Jeffress. Many users accused the president of inciting violence:
