Trump Says He ‘Deserves’ To Meet Whistleblower After Ukraine Scandal, Threatens ‘Big Consequences’

President Donald Trump demanded on Sunday to meet the infamous whistleblower who accused him of using his office for personal gain by pressuring Ukraine’s leader to investigate Joe Biden and his son and cautioned that “big consequences” could come otherwise.

In a series of tweets, Trump accused the whistleblower — an unnamed CIA official who was previously detailed to the White House — of lying and distorting the subject of his July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump also claimed House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-California) made false statements to fellow Democratic lawmakers about what he told Zelensky.

“Like every American, I deserve to meet my accuser, especially when this accuser, the so-called ‘Whistleblower,’ represented a perfect conversation with a foreign leader in a totally inaccurate and fraudulent way. Then Schiff made up what I actually said by lying to Congress,” Trump wrote. “His lies were made in perhaps the most blatant and sinister manner ever seen in the great Chamber,” he added of Schiff before saying he wanted the California Democrat investigated for “Fraud & Treason.”

Trump continued: “In addition, I want to meet not only my accuser, who presented SECOND & THIRD HAND INFORMATION, but also the person who illegally gave this information, which was largely incorrect, to the ‘Whistleblower.’ Was this person SPYING on the U.S. President? Big Consequences!”

Last week, the transcript of Trump’s call with Zelensky was released and House Democrats announced they would launch a formal impeachment inquiry. Acting National Intelligence Director Joseph Maguire also testified before Schiff’s committee about the whistleblower’s complaint, which he called “totally unprecedented.”
