Trump Raises Record $25 Million In First 24 Hours Of Campaign, Quadrupling Biden’s Total

According to the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, President Donald Trump raised nearly $25 million in the first 24 hours since he announced his reelection bid on Tuesday.

“@realDonaldTrump has raised a record breaking $24.8M in less than 24 hours for his re-election,” she tweeted on Wednesday. The president made headlines on Tuesday when he managed to fill a 20,000-person arena in Orlando, Florida for his kickoff rally. “The enthusiasm across the country for this President is unmatched and unlike anything we’ve ever seen! #trump2020 #KeepAmericaGreat,” McDaniel continued.

Trump’s first-day fundraising total has almost quadrupled the $6.3 million that Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden raised during the first 24 hours after he announced his candidacy. The former vice president had led the primary field in first-day donations, with former Texas representative Beto O’Rourke raising $6.1 million, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) raising $5.9 million and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-California) raising $1.5 million.

The president retweeted McDaniel’s message, adding a big “THANK YOU.”

Trump’s fundraising achievement comes as a relief to him, as he had previously been suffering from a wave of losses. In recent weeks various polls have shown the president trailing several Democratic candidates in key battleground states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa, infuriating Trump. Not only did polls from institutes such as Quinnipiac University show the president losing to contenders such as Biden, but Trump’s own internal polls and a poll by Fox News, two sources which would have nothing to gain from skewing results against Trump, also showed the president doing poorly around the country. Trump adamantly denied the accuracy of these polls, instructing his aides to lie to the public about the correctness of his own internal polls, and claiming that “something weird” was going on at Fox News.

Now the news cycle has begun to favor Trump again, as his massive, 20,000 person rally and his huge influx of donations displayed that the president is still a master crowd pleaser, giving hope to his fans that he still has a chance of retaining his seat in the Oval Office.
