Trump Organization Braces Itself For Multiple Investigations By Democratic-Controlled Congress
After the Democrats’ success in the midterm elections, executives at the Trump Organization have began making calls discussing the potential impending issues the Trump family business may face.
TRUMP ORGANIZATION NEWS
Donald Trump‘s organization has endured hundreds lawsuits before, some of which are ongoing, but a Democrat-helmed Congress will pose different problems altogether. One individual with connections to the Trump Organization had previously admitted to CNN that Democrats retaking Congress would be “the worst thing” for the organization. A Democratic House would, for instance, have the authority to force committee chairs to attend public hearings and give testimony regarding the Trump Organization’s dealings.
Following the Democrats’ victory, top executives at the Trump Organization pressed staff to preserve. Nevertheless, two of the organization’s lawyers are confident in the company’s legal team given its collective experience in court. Some of Trump’s personal lawyers told him Democrats may moderate their inquiries into Trump and his business once they formally reclaim the House as to not appear too partisan.
Regardless, the Democrats’ formal regaining of the House is still over a month away. In the meantime, the Trump Organization still faces two lawsuits: The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance is currently investigating potential tax fraud while the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office is looking to see if company executives violated campaign-finance laws. Of course, Democrats can and likely will at some point probe further into the Trump Organization and its dealings once they are in the position to, especially since at least five separate committees have expressed interest in doing so.
