Trump Campaign Requests Partial Recount In Biden-Dominated Wisconsin Counties

President Donald Trump’s campaign is requesting a recount in Milwaukee and Dane counties in Wisconsin. Both counties were heavily supportive of President-elect Joe Biden, who won Wisconsin by about 20,000 votes.

Following Wisconsin law, Trump’s campaign will have to pay for the recount because Biden won by a margin greater than one-quarter of a percentage point. If they wanted to recount the entire state, it would cost close to $8 million. Recounting counties in overwhelming support of Biden makes more economic sense for the campaign, and the Wisconsin Elections Commission shared on Twitter on Wednesday that they had received $3 million from the Trump campaign to pay for the partial recount.

In 2016, Wisconsin held a recount as well, and the results changed little – it only tipped the vote in favor of him over Democrat Hillary Clinton by 131 votes. The Trump campaign is determined to find evidence of voter fraud to explain Trump’s loss.

“We will not know the true results of the election until only the legal ballots cast are counted. We will not stop fighting fro transparency and integrity in our electoral process,” said Trump campaign counsel Jim Troupis. “Americans (should be able to) trust the results of a free and fair election in Wisconsin and across the country.”
