The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released new information regarding COVID-19. The new guidance states that face masks not only prevent the spread of COVID-19, but can actually protect the person wearing it, due to the filtration system of face masks lowering the chances that coronavirus droplets can travel through the mask.
The face masks with the higher tried counts and multiple layers of fabric are the best ones to wear, according to the CDC. Essentially, the more fabric or thread the mask has, the lower the chance is a COVID-19 droplet can make it through to the individual. They also are continuing to encourage people to social distance and wash their hands to help prevent the spread.
If you don’t like fabric masks, and prefer disposable face masks, those work as well, but remember to actually throw them away after each use. They aren’t made to be worn multiple times.
COVID-19 has seen a recent surge in the United States, which is causing many states to go back into lockdown, restrict the amount of people at social gatherings and close down businesses like restaurants and gyms. Some states are also requiring a mask mandate as well, making the CDC’s information more important now than ever.
