President Donald Trump called the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) “crazy” in a tweet on Tuesday. Trump accused Pelosi of wanting to “change our voting system” after Pelosi labeled Trump’s dealings with Ukraine as an abuse of power.

Trump tweeted on Tuesday ahead of the impeachment hearings that Pelosi wanted to impeach him because she is petrified that if the Democratic House did not, he would win the election in 2020.

The Washington Post noted that Trump’s quote was similar to that of Fox News Chief Congressional Correspondent Mike Emanuel. Emanuel said, “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi circulated a memo to Democrats tonight telling them it would be dangerous to let voters decide President Trump’s fate when it comes to the Ukraine investigation.”

Pelosi said the ‘facts are uncontested.’ She said that Trump had abused his power. In a “Dear Colleague” letter, Pelosi gave short shrift to the Republican argument that Trump’s future should be decided in the upcoming election. She asserted that it was incumbent upon the House of Representatives to investigate any potential wrongdoing by the President. She said, “the President is jeopardizing the integrity of the 2020 elections.”

Congressman Al Green hit back at Trump in a tweet of his own.
