Scott Pruitt, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, is under fire again for extravagant spending at the government agency. According to documents first obtained by the Sierra Club, Pruitt’s office purchased a set of 12 fountain pens at the cost of $1,560.
Each silver pen had the agency’s seal and Pruitt’s signature. The order also included a set of journals that cost $1,670.
Pruitt previously ordered the construction of a $43,000 private phone booth in his office.
According to a spokesman, EPA administrators often give gifts to “foreign counterparts and dignitaries.” Ethics groups raised alarms due to the close relationship between Pruitt and the aide who approved the purchases.
