The Russian state-run TV channel Russia 24 praised President Donald Trump for his comments that Crimea is part of Russia saying, “Trump is ours!”
According to BuzzFeed News, a diplomatic source reported that Trump told leaders at the G7 summit in Quebec that Crimea is Russian because everyone who lives there speaks Russian. The source also said, Trump told world leaders at the dinner that “Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world” and wondered why leaders sided with them over Russia.

Hosts of the Russian show, known as that country’s 60 Minutes, discussed the BuzzFeed report. At the end of the program, co-host Olga Skabeeva triumphantly declared “Crimea is ours! Trump is ours!” Julia Davis, a national security and foreign policy journalist who runs the Russian Media Monitor website, reports via Twitter that Skabeeva was positively gushing about the White House’s decision to not enforce new sanctions against her country.
