Russian State TV Celebrates: “Trump Is Ours!” [VIDEO]
The Russian state-run TV channel Russia 24 praised President Donald Trump for his comments that Crimea is part of Russia saying, “Trump is ours!”
According to BuzzFeed News, a diplomatic source reported that Trump told leaders at the G7 summit in Quebec that Crimea is Russian because everyone who lives there speaks Russian. The source also said, Trump told world leaders at the dinner that “Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world” and wondered why leaders sided with them over Russia.

Hosts of the Russian show, known as that country’s 60 Minutes, discussed the BuzzFeed report. At the end of the program, co-host Olga Skabeeva triumphantly declared “Crimea is ours! Trump is ours!” Julia Davis, a national security and foreign policy journalist who runs the Russian Media Monitor website, reports via Twitter that Skabeeva was positively gushing about the White House’s decision to not enforce new sanctions against her country.

Crimea has been contested territory between Russia and Ukraine for centuries. It was part of Ukraine until 2014, when Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded and annexed Crimea with the help of pro-Russian separatists. The annexation of Crimea led to widespread international condemnation, sanctions, and Russia’s expulsion from the G8. The vast majority of U.N. member states, including the U.S., recognizes Crimea as Ukraine’s rightful territory.
