Rudy Giuliani Meets With Robert Mueller To Discuss Trump Interview In Russia Probe

Less than one week after it was revealed Rudy Giuliani has joined President Donald Trump’s legal team in the Russia investigation, the former New York City mayor met with special counsel Robert Mueller.

Rudy Giuliani And Robert Mueller Meet

Giuliani and Mueller met Tuesday to discuss in part whether Trump will sit down with the special counsel for an interview. Since the FBI raided the office, home and hotel room of the president’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen on April 9, many more people have doubted that Trump would still be willing to meet with Mueller to testify in his probe on collusion between his campaign officials and the Russian government during the 2016 election. Mueller reportedly signed off on the search warrant for the raids of Cohen’s materials, as did Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Since joining Trump’s defense team, Giuliani — a longtime friend of the president — has reportedly had several meetings with other members of the team, including Jay Sekulow, the lead attorney who replaced John Dowd after Dowd resigned in March.

Giluiani has a home in South Florida not far from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, and told CNN he hoped to help end Mueller’s probe within just a few weeks.

Among the people Mueller that has charged in the inquiry is former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who has pleaded not guilty to tax fraud, among other financial charges. Dutch lawyer Alexander van der Zwaan was also charged with lying to investigators about his communications with Rick GatesGates, a former Trump aide, was accused of transferring millions of dollars from offshore accounts and lying to federal agents about this issue. Van der Zwaan was sentenced to 30 days in prison.

Besides Russian collusion and Russian interference in the 2016 election, Mueller and his team is also reportedly investigating whether or not Trump committed obstruction of justice by firing FBI Director James Comey in May 2017.
