Robert Mueller Tells Congress That His Investigation Was ‘Not A Witch Hunt’ As Trump Claims

This morning, President Donald Trump tweeted that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation was “the Greatest Witch Hunt in U.S. history, by far!”  The post came after Trump learned Mueller’s deputy, Aaron Zebley, would be joining Mueller at the witness stand.

Zebley’s role was merely to provide counsel to Mueller, but Trump felt it was another Democratic attack.

After a series of questions detailing the many meetings and deals members of the Trump campaign and administration had with Russians, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-California) asked “your investigation is not a witch hunt is it?”

Mueller firmly stated that his investigation was “it is not a witch hunt.”

Since the initiation of Mueller’s investigation in May of 2017, Trump has played the victim to his supporters claiming that he is innocent.

Mueller made it clear that the investigation was not an unprovoked attack against the Trump administration, but rather an investigation into whether or not members of the Trump campaign had willingly and knowing colluded with foreign countries and to what extent meddling from Russia influenced the 2016 election.
