Mitch McConnell Gets Booed, Heckled With “Moscow Mitch” Chants At Fancy Farm Picnic Event In Kentucky

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) was booed and heckled with chants of “Moscow Mitch” at a Fancy Farm picnic event in Kentucky on Saturday.

Democrats accused the Senate Majority Leader of backing Russian interests by not supporting the passage of election interference legislation last month. In turn, McConnell claimed Democrats want to “turn America into a socialist country,” citing the party’s desire to make certain cities so-called “sanctuary cities” that would provide immigrants with a safe haven.

Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are never going to let that happen. That’s why I call myself the Grim Reaper,” McConnell said. “I’m killing their socialist agenda. But the first step in fighting those liberal schemes happens right here in Kentucky this year. We need to reelect Gov. [Matt] Bevin.

Bevin, who is hoping to become Kentucky’s first two-term Republican governor, also asked attendees of the event which “side” they stood on regarding immigration.

“Are you on the side of sanctuary cities? Or are you on the side of protecting the rule of law and securing our borders? Which side are you on?” Bevin asked.

Many critics of McConnell — who now has a challenger in the 2020 congressional elections in former fighter pilot Amy McGrath — were also quick to blast him for his longtime strong relationship with the National Rifle Association.

Several United States intelligence agencies and congressional committees have determined that Russia interfered in the 2016 election. The latest revelation showed Russians infiltrated U.S. voting databases in all 50 states.
