Melania Trump For Second Visit At Mexican Border, This Time Without The Jacket

Melania Trump has travelled to the U.S.-Mexico border for the second time in a week to see immigration centers housing apprehended migrant children, following widespread outcry over the separation of families under the president’s “zero-tolerance” migration policy.

Her first stop was a Customs and Border Protection processing facility in Tucson, Arizona, where immigrants apprehended after illegally crossing into the country are held. She tried to visit a similar center in McAllen, Texas, last week but was unable to go because of flooding. When Trump entered the room she tried to greet a three-year-old boy, but he ran away from her. She then greeted border patrol agents gathered for her visit, according to reporters.

The first lady faced criticism during her border trip last week when she sported a jacket that said, “I don’t care, do you?” Trump’s spokesperson said there was no “hidden message” and President Donald Trump claimed the jacket was an attempt to hit back at the media.

During the visit to the facility, Trump was shown a photo of a six years old boy sat in the desert alone, carrying a note in Spanish that in English read, “I am looking for my mother.” looking down at the photo she said softly, “Oh God,” according to The Independent.

Trump told border agents later, “It’s incredible. As young as six years old, you know, someone would leave them. Wow, very sad. I want to thank you for all your hard work, I know how difficult and dangerous your daily jobs are,” Trump added. “I am here to support you and help any way I can.”
