Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls Rep. David Cicilline ‘Rep. Mussolini’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Georgia) called Rep. David Cicilline (D-Rhode Island) “Rep. Mussolini,” in response to the Italian-American Democrat’s attempt to block her from forcing motions to adjourn.

Greene’s most recent motion to adjourn came as the House was voting on the passage of President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill. This motion failed after Republicans and Democrats alike voted in opposition to it.

When asked by Newsweek about Cicilline’s proposal, Greene replied with, “Do you mean Rep. Mussolini?”

Just last month, the House voted to revoke Greene’s committee assignments due to her support of QAnon, a far-right conspiracy theory, and violence against Democrats, such as Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California).

She added: “Not only did Democrats unilaterally strip away my committees, now they want to remove any powers I have to represent my district. The Democrats run the House of Hypocrites with tyrannical control.”

In response to her comment, Cicilline released the following statement on Twitter: “I’m an Italian and a Jew. Mussolini was a fascist dictator in league with Adolf Hitler, who murdered six million Jews. Marjorie Taylor Greene can get lost.”

Cicilline has previously served as House manager in former president Donald Trump’s second Senate impeachment trial.

Recently, there have been reports of growing frustration toward Greene, even among her Republican allies.
