President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden traveled to Georgia last Thursday to pay a visit to former President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter.

The Carter Center tweeted an image of the two couples on Monday. In the image, Jill Biden can be seen holding President Carter’s hand and President Biden is shown kneeling next to Rosalynn Carter. Many on social media noted that the Bidens seem like giants compared with the elfin Carters due to the camera angle.

The photo was accompanied by the following caption: “We’re pleased to share this wonderful photo from the @POTUS and @FLOTUS visit to see the Carters in Plains, Ga.! Thank you President and Mrs. Biden!”

During their stay in Georgia, the Bidens also commemorated the president’s first 100 days in office by attending a rally in Atlanta.

According to reporters, the Bidens’ visit to the Carters’ home lasted about an hour, and Rosalynn Carter escorted the presidential couple to the door of the Carters’ home afterwards.

At 96, President Carter is the oldest living former president. He has been living in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, with Rosalynn since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biden commented on his meeting with the former commander-in-chief. “It was great to see President Carter,” he said. “He reminded me that I was the first person to endorse him outside of Georgia. And we sat and talked about the old days.”

Biden added that he and Carter “talked a little bit about cancer research and a few other things” and, overall, “[it was] just great to see him.”

Biden also commented on the former president’s recent health scares. “His health has gotten better. It’s amazing. He keeps bouncing back,” he said.
