Joe Biden Calls For Trump’s Impeachment For The First Time, Says He ‘Betrayed’ The Country [VIDEO]

Joe Biden publicly called for President Donald Trump‘s impeachment for the first time on Wednesday, saying he “betrayed” the U.S. and that he must be removed from office “to preserve our Constitution, our democracy [and] our basic integrity.”

“With his words and his actions, President Trump has indicted himself. By obstructing justice, refusing to comply with the congressional inquiry, he’s already convicted himself,” the former vice president said in a 2020 campaign speech in Rochester, New Hampshire. “In full view of the world and the American people, Donald Trump has violated his oath of office, betrayed this nation and committed impeachable acts.”

According to several polls, Biden is now in second place among Democratic candidates in the 2020 presidential election behind progressive Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts). Biden is a key part of House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry into Trump, as they are probing the president’s efforts to solicit help from Ukraine’s government to investigate the former vice president and his son for alleged corruption. Trump was also revealed to have asked China’s leader Xi Jinping to probe Biden, who recently told Trump “you’re not going to destroy me.”

“Impeachment isn’t only about what the president has done. It’s about the threat the president poses to the nation if allowed to remain in office,” Biden said on Wednesday.

The former vice president also urged lawmakers to vote to remove Trump from office before Election Day 2020.

Trump derided Biden in a tweet on Wednesday in which he also accused the former vice president of stealing large sums of money from foreign countries.
