Jill Biden, the first lady of the United States, criticized President Joe Biden‘s choice of Kamala Harris as his running mate. According to a new book, This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle of America’s Future, by New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alex Burns, give an account of the 2020 election and the Biden presidency thus far.
“There are millions of people in the United States. Why do we have to choose the one who attacked Joe?” Jill Biden said. During a 2019 debate in Miami, Harris famously confronted Biden about his opposition to racially integrating public schools in the 1970s. Biden was reportedly hurt that Harris insinuated he had racist beliefs.
Michael LaRosa, a spokesman for Jill Biden, said, “Many books will be written on the 2020 campaign, with countless retellings of events – some accurate, some inaccurate.”
According to Martin and Burns, Biden and Harris are “friendly but not close.” The book is expected to release on May 3.
