Many reporters have speculated as to whether Robert Mueller is in good health after the former special counsel’s extremely tepid performance in a congressional hearing on Wednesday about his probe on Russian interference in 2016 and his subsequent report on President Donald Trump‘s role in potentially obstructing justice by attempting to stop the investigation.
Throughout Wednesday’s testimonies before the House Judiciary Committee and House Intelligence Committee, Mueller only appeared to offer one new major revelation: that although indicting a sitting president is not allowed, Trump could potentially be charged with obstructing justice after he leaves office. The White House was reportedly “euphoric” with the outcome of the hearing, during which Democrats rarely managed to defend Mueller, while Republicans excoriated the former special counsel.
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Louisiana) made the most headlines for launching an angry tirade against Mueller in which he accused the former special counsel of having “perpetuated injustice” by leading an inquiry against the president for two years that resulted in no charges against Trump.

Fox Business Host Stuart Varney was among the major media pundits who voiced his concern for Mueller’s health in extremely direct terms.
“Forgive me for making almost a personal comment,” Varney told Judge Andrew Napolitano. “Robert Mueller seems frail. He does not seem really sharp and in line with answering the questions. Yes or no is what he’s been giving.”
Napolitano said he agreed about Mueller’s mental acuity.

Here are other reporters who voiced similar opinions about Mueller’s health. Many pundits seemed to believe the hearing was “painful” to watch because of its extremely slow place. Media figures noted the awkwardness of Mueller struggling to provide elaborate answers to the questions lawmakers asked him, many of which he asked to be repeated for him.
