Herschel Walker Upset After Trump Takes Credit For His Senate Primary Win

Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker has pushed back after former President Donald Trump made claims about being responsible for Walker’s primary win.

In an interview with Revolt TV Host Killer Mike, Walker said Trump never publicly asked him to run. “I heard it all on television that, ‘He’s going to ask Herschel,’ saying Herschel is going to run. President Trump never came out and said, ‘Herschel, will you run for that Senate seat?’”

Walker, a former football star for the Dallas Cowboys, has made headlines recently after his victory in the Georgia Republican Senate primary. He has used both his fame in Georgia and Trump’s backing to win his state’s Republican primary.

Despite being vague on the issues, Walker was successful against his opponents. He defeated five other Republicans during his bid, including Latham Saddler, a former Trump administration official and Navy SEAL officer.

Despite Walker’s popularity with Georgia Republicans, Walker faces accusations of mental issues after his alleged threats to kill a past girlfriend. Walker was also accused of stalking a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader.

Walker is facing off against Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Georgia) later in a crucial race for control of the U.S Senate.

Warnock, another political newcomer with only two years in the Senate, is a pastor from the same church as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and is running for another term as senator.

The Real Clear Politics poll shows Warnock at 46.8% – a 0.5 disadvantage – compared to Walker who is currency polled at 47.3% for Georgia.
