Karl Rove, the famed Republican strategist, declared that former President Donald Trump needs to regain control over the campaign landscape. Rove explained that Trump is now in a “subordinate role” compared to Vice President Kamala Harris.
The statement came after Neil Cavuto, a Fox News anchor, asked about Democratic strategist James Carville’s optimism regarding the Harris Campaign.
On the topic of Harris’ candidacy, Rove explained, “She’s got to have a convention that unifies the Democratic Party and has a positive impact on the American voter. She needs to come blowing out of that convention in Chicago and showing big crowds and lots of enthusiasm.”
The Republican strategist then moved to the topic of the former president’s candidacy. “He’s got to frame Harris,” he said. “He’s got to find the right message to go after her. He’s got to get back in control of the dialogue. He is clearly in a subordinate role here. He feels uncomfortable with it, I suspect, and he likes being the guy who’s setting the tempo of the campaign. And that’s not happening.”

Harris’ campaign had some early successes following President Joe Biden’s decision to drop out of the race. Within the first week, Harris had raised over $200 million, along with many top Democratic figures endorsing Harris’s candidacy.
The Harris campaign’s success also follows the assassination attempt on Trump, during which he was shot in the ear during one of his rallies.
Discussing recent polls, Rove concluded by explaining that the election “Is going to be a barn burner, and it’s very much up for grabs, and the next two or three weeks are going to be critical for both camps.”
