Fans Rage After ABC Interrupts ‘The Bachelorette’ To Show Kim Jong-un/Donald Trump Summit

On Monday night, The Bachelorette fans were shocked to find their regularly scheduled romance interrupted by a new budding relationship. ABC broke into the third episode of the popular reality show to air the historic meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, making for what some Bachelorette fans may argue, the most eventful one-on-one date in recent history.

Fans joined in as the two leaders met for the first time, following a rocky history, in their fantasy destination of Singapore. The meeting left many viewers with a sense of hope as the two seemed to finally begin opening up to one another. When discussing how the relationship with Kim may progress, Trump told reporters he and Kim “have developed a very special bond.” Viewers later clinked their wine glasses upon hearing Trump confess that Kim “trusts me, and I trust him” in an interview with ABC News following the summit.

Many eager fans took to Twitter to further speculate as to the relationship’s potential.

Even The Bachelorette host, Chris Harrison, joined in on the fun through Twitter.

However, not all were happy for the new couple. Many Bachelorette fans considered the interruption to be unnecessary, as the point of such reality programs is to escape from such stressful political realities.

Lucky for fans, the show continued airing after the interruption and audiences could view the episode in its entirety. The interruption does come as a surprise as in recent years, ABC has tended to move away from traditional news coverage in favor of more infotainment-type programming such as The View and Good Morning America
