Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts) wanted to make it clear that Democrats should not “be using Republican talking points” when answering a question about healthcare during last night’s Democratic presidential debate. “We are the Democrats we are not… trying to take away healthcare from anyone, that’s what the Republicans are trying to do,” she said.
Warren brought up an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patient but was stopped by the moderator who asked if she is “with Bernie” on his proposal to tax the middle class to pay for healthcare, to which she agreed.
Before her time ran out, Warren brought up the ALS patient again to make the point of a person who had good insurance but still has to pay health care costs out of pocket. When some members of the audience laughed, she scolded them, “this isn’t funny… this is someone who… is dying.” She noted that insurance companies want to take money from people not to provide them with adequate care.
