During last night’s Democratic presidential debate, things got heated between Sen, Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont) and former Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-Colorado) when the two debated the issue of healthcare.
Sanders hopes to implement a single-payer healthcare program that uses taxes to pay for public healthcare. Hickenlooper said that the idea would be a disaster and policies such as Sanders’s “might as well Fedex the election to Donald Trump.” Hickenlooper and other moderate Democrats stated that they feel Sanders and progressive Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-Massachusetts) ideas are too radical and play into the stereotype of Democrats created by President Donald Trump.
Sanders said that the “American people want to pay reasonable prices for prescription drugs not the highest prices in the world.”
Hickenlooper rebutted him by calling the idea “radical” but stopped when Sanders threw his hands in the air and proceeded to mimic Sanders saying, “go ahead, throw your hands in the air… I can do it too.”
