Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his wife, Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, were accosted by a group of protesters as they were leaving a dinner at Georgetown University.
The small group of protesters loudly questioned McConnell as he got into a waiting SUV about his support of President Donald Trump‘s administration immigration policies, according to a video a protestor tweeted on Tuesday.

This incident is the latest in a string of occurrences involving members of the Trump administration. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was confronted by protesters at a Mexican restaurant last week.
Last Saturday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave a restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, after the owner heard she was dining there. The owner said she felt the restaurant had “certain standards that I feel it has to uphold, such as honesty and compassion and cooperation.” Shortly after Trump berated the Red Hen Restaurant.
It also comes just days after Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), praised the “no peace, no sleep” protests and called for stepping up confrontations with Trump officials in public places.
“Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up, and if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station,” she told a throng of cheering supporters, “you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
