During his speech at the National Rifle Association’s Leadership Forum in Dallas, Texas, President Donald Trump made an appearance — and mostly spoke about himself.
Very little of the speech actually seemed to touch on gun rights and ownership. He began by thanking the leaders of the NRA, and subsequently endorsing several Texan politicians, including Greg Abbott, Ted Cruz and Ken Paxton. He also spoke about defending the Second Amendment.
“The people in this hall have never taken our freedom for granted, never,” Trump said. “And you have never stopped fighting for our beloved Constitution. Incredible people, thank you.”
After the mass school shooting in Parkland, Fla., Trump had shown some interest in modest gun control measures. But he reflected none of that today. Instead, he said that his administration would protect the Second Amendment.
