Donald Trump Has Made 3,001 False Or Misleading Statements During Presidency – So Far

The Washington Post’s Fact Checker project found that President Donald Trump has told 3,001 lies or misleading statements since taking office last January.

Trump has been in office for 466 days. His average number of lies is 6.5 a day, which is a 1.6 increase from the 4.9 lies he told daily during his first 100 days in office.

Trump also repeats false claims. The Washington Post found he repeated at least 113 claims three or more times.

The President has said he’s passed the biggest tax cut in American history 72 times, when in fact it is the eighth largest tax cut. He has said that Democrats do not care about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals 41 times, when in fact Democrats were dissatisfied with the lack of solution that the passed February DACA bill included.

In the last five weeks, Trump has said that the border wall between the U.S.’s southern border and Mexico’s northern border was being built 13 times, even though Congress has not approved federal funding for it.

According to Politifact, a nonpartisan organization that fact checks statements made by politicians, only 16% of Trump’s statements have been categorized as “True” or “Mostly True.” Comparatively, 48.1% of former President Barack Obama’s claims were “True” or “Mostly True.”

Politifact’s scorecards found that 84% of Trump’s claims were half true, mostly false, false or met its “Pants On Fire” category of falsehoods, while 51.9% of Obama’s claims met these qualities.
