President Donald Trump went golfing instead of preparing for Hurricane Dorian and attending the World War II commemoration ceremony in Warsaw on Labor Day weekend.

The president said he had canceled his trip to Poland to prepare for Hurricane Dorian. However, as the Category Five Hurricane rapidly approached the southeastern region of the United States, Trump was spotted on the golf course.

Trump accidentally misreported the predicted severity and geographic regions affected by the storm – falsely stating Dorian was most likely going to impact Alabama. The National Weather Service refuted Trump’s weather forecast. The hurricane was predicted to hit Florida but was never a danger to  Alabama – a state bordering the Gulf of Mexico, not the Atlantic.

Trump spent the weekend at a Trump-branded Virginia golf club and sent Vice President Mike Pense to the World War II commemoration ceremony in Warsaw.
