After touching down in Singapore, President Donald J Trump instructed advisers to push the highly anticipated North Korean Summit up a day because he was bored.
“We’re here now,” said the president. “Why can’t we just do it?”
According to The Washington Post, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders were able to convince the antsy president to hold off until Tuesday to meet with the North Korean leader, as planned. They argued that following the initial schedule would give U.S officials more time to prepare for the meeting. Sanders also noted that pushing up the meeting would result in significantly less media coverage as a Monday meeting in Singapore would air on Sunday night in the U.S. Many reporters were also yet to arrive and would miss the event, despite registering in advance.
The last minute request left many aides in a panic as the event had already been canceled and rescheduled once before. Trump had previously canceled the planned summit in response to a growing “lack of good faith” in North Korea following a number of skirmishes between the two countries.

SLIDESHOW: DONALD TRUMP’S 30 CRAZIEST TWEETS
The summit proceeded as planned on Tuesday where the two leaders agreed on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, though specific details were not discussed. Trump considered the summit to be a success, noting that he and North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, had developed a “special bond” and he would even be willing to invite Kim to the White House in the future.
The growing relationship has come a long way in the past year. Just last November, Trump had mocked the North Korean leader, calling him “Little Rocket Man.”
