A Texas man was arrested by Washington, D.C., police and is facing weapons and ammunition charges after he stood outside the official residence of Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday. She resides at the U.S. Naval Observatory in the nation’s capital.
According to a spokesperson for Washington’s Metropolitan Police, officers responded “at approximately 12:12 pm, to the 3400 block of Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. in reference to a suspicious person based on an intelligence bulletin that originated from Texas, who was detained by U.S. Secret Service.” The man was then contacted after a region-wide intelligence bulletin had been issued for the suspect.
Paul Murray, 31, of San Antonio was arrested by D.C. police officers after a rifle and ammunition were found in his vehicle. He’s been charged with several accounts: carrying a dangerous weapon, carrying a rifle or shotgun outside of a business, possession of unregistered ammunition and possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device.
Officers allege Murray had an “AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, 113 rounds of unregistered ammunition, and five 30 round magazines.” Uniform Division officers detained Murray before Metropolitan Police arrived on the scene.
