Corey Lewandowski & Florida GOP State Senators Almost Get Into Fight Over Donald Trump

President Donald Trump‘s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski on Wednesday evening got into a contentious argument with Florida Republican officials over Trump’s influence on the midterm election results.

Lewandowski, who served as Trump’s first campaign manager in 2016, lauded the president for campaigning intensely in Florida ahead of the midterms. He claimed Trump’s actions helped GOP Rep. Ron DeSantisdescribed by many as a “mini-Trump,” win the gubernatorial race and Republican Gov. Rick Scott  win his Senate bid. Both contests faced long ballot recounts due to close margins between their respective candidates.

“Donald Trump saved Florida, from the top to the bottom of the ticket,” Lewandowski said Wednesday night, according to Politico

Florida Senate President Bill Galvano, a Republican, agreed but noted that the Florida Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee (FRSCC) he led, as well as the GOP candidates and committees, spent a record $44 million and that his also likely sparked higher Republican voter turnout.

“There were lots of efforts put forward,” Galvano said, according to one witness. “Maybe it helped that FRSCC and our candidates knocked on 725,000 doors?”

“No! I know Florida!” Lewandowski replied in a higher tone, according to witnesses. “It was Trump!”

Galvano then came up with the perfect response: “Then explain to me why we maintained Senate seats in districts Trump lost by double digits,” he fired back.

Lewandowski, a frequent Fox News contributor, found himself at the center of a controversy over the summer when he said “womp womp” in response to a report about a young immigrant girl with Down Syndrome who had been torn away from her family at the border, when the Trump administration’s controversial zero-tolerance policy on illegal immigration that resulted in family separations was being protested.
