A rally for Sen. Amy Klobuchar in Minnesota was cancelled due to protests surrounding a black teenager convicted of murder after a faulty police investigation.
Protesters climbed on stage and chanted “Black Lives Matter,” “Klobuchar has got to go” and “Free Myon” until the event was eventually cancelled.
A campaign spokesperson for Klobuchar told the media, “The campaign offered a meeting with the senator if they [protesters] would leave the stage after being onstage for more than an hour. After the group initially agreed, they backed out of the agreement and we are canceling the event.”
As Klobuchar was serving as Hennepin County’s top attorney, the senator has been criticized for the conviction of Myon Burrell, who was convicted in 2002 after an 11-year-old girl was killed by a stray bullet while doing homework. Burrell, a teenager while sentencing, was sentenced to life in prison.

That was a tough job.”
Klobuchar later announced she would suspend her campaign for president, and endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden ahead of Super Tuesday.
