Obama Reportedly Concerned That Biden ‘Doesn’t Have’ Bond With Voters

Former President Barack Obama has expressed concern over former Vice President and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden‘s failure to form an intimate bond with the electorate.

Obama, who has mainly stayed out of the 2020 Democratic election, has refused to endorse Biden. Obama has expressed concern that Biden does not possess the necessary skill with voters to win over Democrats or the nation – the same bond which thrust Obama into the Oval Office.

Obama reportedly told another candidate that he, himself, had the ability to form a connection with Iowans and then stated, “you know who really doesn’t have it? Joe Biden.”

Primary election polls in Iowa and New Hampshire show that Biden is lagging behind other Democratic candidates.

Though Biden’s campaign has lost significant voter support in the early states, he is still a strong Democratic candidate nationally. The African American, working-class, and elderly communities continue to show strong support for Biden.

According to Real Clear Politics’ (RCP) average of Iowa polls, Biden is currently in fourth place in Iowa. He is polling at an average of 16.3 percent. Biden is behind Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Bernie Sanders, who are polling at 17.7 percent and 18.3 percent, respectively. Biden also stands behind Mayor Pete Buttigiegwho boasts a 24 percent poll on average. RCP’s New Hampshire poll tracker reveals that Biden and Buttigieg are tied for second place behind Warren.
