President Donald Trump was heckled in Manhattan’s Madison Square Park by an irreverent crowd on November 11, Veterans Day. The president came with First Lady Melania Trump to New York City, his hometown to pay tribute to U.S. veterans.

His speech thanked them for their services on the 101st Veterans Day in the U.S. . Protesters could be heard shouting “traitor.”  In high-rise apartments near the park, conspicuous signs that read ‘IMPEACH’ and ‘CONVICT’ were  written for the president.

Trump did not lay a wreath at the Eternal Light Memorial, as he said he would. Melania Trump watched the ceremony from the stage behind a bullet-proof glass covering. While Trump was speaking, the crowd chanted in the background ‘“lock him up.”

Trump is the only sitting president in the US history to attend the Veterans Day Parade in the city.

“To every veteran here with us, to the thousands preparing to march on Fifth Avenue — it’ll be really something — and to the 18 million veterans across our country, the first lady and I have come to express the everlasting love and loyalty of 327 million Americans,” Trump said.

Outside the park, Veterans Day parade attendees comprised veterans and their families. In addition, there were Trump’s supporters and detractors.
