Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, are the virtual definition of a D.C. power couple. McConnell, a crafty tactician of Senate rules, successfully blocked Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court Merrick Garland, but struck out when the Senate GOP failed to repeal Obamacare. Chao has had to bite her tongue after President Trump attacked her husband for the legislative disaster.
