White House Social Media Summit Features Far Right-Wing Media Personalities, Ben Garrison Uninvited For Anti-Semitic Tweet

Anti-SemitismPresident Donald Trump hosted a “social media summit” at the White House on Thursday, but instead of inviting representatives from Facebook or Twitter, the guests will be far-right media personalities.

The White House has invited traditional conservative think tanks such as the Heritage Foundation and Claremont Institute, but it will also be inviting individual stars who have made their fame in conspiracy theories and xenophobic remarks. Trump has embraced controversial media figures since the beginning of his campaign, legitimizing their far-fetched conspiracy theories in order to damage the reputations of his opponents, such as Hillary Clinton.

While the White House has not published an official guest list, many attendees have taken to social media to boast of their invitations. Among them are Bill Mitchell, a radio host who helped disseminate the QAnon conspiracy theory which stated that figures such as Barack Obama, Clinton, and George Soros were attempting a coup d’etat against the government. Another attendee will be Carpe Donktum, an anonymous internet troll who won a contest hosted by right-wing media site InfoWars asking for an anti-media meme. Ali Alexander, the social media activist who attempted to smear Kamala Harris by implying that she was not an “American black,” will also be in attendance.

The one attendee deemed too controversial even for the Trump administration is Ben Garrison, an artist who drew a cartoon that many have deemed anti-semitic. The comic displayed a hand marked “The Rothschilds” pulling the strings of a puppet George Soros who in turn is pulling the strings of former national security advisor H.R. McMaster and General David Petraeus. The comic reinforces the conspiracy theory that the world is being controlled by a “Jewish Kabal” that works behind the scenes to influence global affairs using their vast wealth.

So far the White House has revealed little to no information about the event, not even a basic schedule or a vague idea about what the summit will involve.
