Twitter Users Blast Ivanka Trump After She Tweets “Eid Mubarak” Message To All Muslims Celebrating Eid Al-Adha Holiday

Ivanka Trump wished Muslims around the world a joyful celebration of the Eid al-Adha holiday in a tweet on Sunday, although Twitter rapidly shot back by calling out her hypocrisy given her father President Donald Trump‘s ban on Muslims entering the United States.

“Eid Mubarak to Muslims all around the world celebrating Eid al-Adha,” Ivanka tweeted Sunday, using the Arabic phrase for “blessed feast” that is often utilized for the Islamic Festival of the Sacrifice. “Wishing you health, happiness and joy!”

One of several major Muslim holidays, Eid al-Adha celebrate the test of faith the Prophet Ibrahim was subjected to.

Donald Trump had first suggested his idea for a Muslim travel ban during his 2016 campaign after a series of terror attacks in the United States launched by Islamic citizens, particularly one that occurred in San Bernardino, California in December 2015. Trump cited national security as his reason for the proposal. In 2017, Trump signed an executive order that prohibited travel from countries like Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Sudan for three months. Many of these nations are also home to large refugee populations who have been denied entry into the U.S. by the Trump administration.

Several courts have since challenged Trump’s executive order regarding the Muslim ban. However, In June 2018, the Supreme Court upheld another version of the Muslim ban with a 5-4 decision. This edition included a “waiver provision” that required citizens of these nations to prove to their embassy or consulate that they have a family member like a cousin, uncle, sibling or grandparent who resides in the U.S. This version also removed Iraq from the list of banned countries and added North Korea and certain government officials from Venezuela.

Several Twitter users were quick to call out Ivanka for what they perceived as her disingenuous post. This follows a post from last month in which Twitter users mocked the first daughter and senior adviser to the president for calling the United Kingdom “United Kingston” in a tweet congratulating new Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
