Tulsi Gabbard Slams Hillary Clinton’s ‘Failed Legacy’ In ‘Wall Street Journal’ Op-Ed

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) sharply criticized Hillary Clinton on Wednesday in an op-ed in which she explained she is running for president in 2020 in order to undo the former secretary of State’s “failed legacy.”

Gabbard’s piece in the Wall Street Journal comes after Clinton recently said in an interview she believes Russia is “grooming” the Hawaii Democrat as a third-party candidate running against President Donald Trump in the 2020 election. Clinton claimed without evidence that Gabbard, an Army veteran, is a “favorite of the Russians” who has parroted talking points made by Vladimir Putin.

In her op-ed, Gabbard also wrote she believes Clinton made the accusation against her in retaliation after the Hawaii Democrat chose to endorse Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) over her in the 2016 election.

“The smears have been nonstop ever since,” writes Gabbard.

The Hawaii Democrat also condemned the “Bush-Clinton doctrine” of using extreme measures like declaring war and issuing sanctions to punish countries as a default way of conducting foreign policy.

“Those who follow the Bush-Clinton doctrine believe the only way to interact with other nations is by bombing them or starving them with draconian sanctions,” Gabbard writes.

“Whether Mrs. Clinton’s name is on the ballot or not, her foreign policy will be,” Gabbard wrote in the piece, adding she believes several of her Democratic opponents in the 2020 race “adhere to her doctrine of acting as the world’s police, using the tools of war to overthrow governments we don’t like, wasting taxpayer dollars, costing American lives, causing suffering and destruction abroad, and undermining America’s security.”

Gabbard also recently slammed Clinton in a tweet, calling the 2016 presidential candidate the “queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long.”

Gabbard is close to qualifying for next month’s debate, as she has met the $165,000 donor minimum and has just one more Democratic National Committee-approved poll to qualify for.
