Trump’s Reelection Campaign Raised More Than $30 Million In First Quarter

Donald Trump‘s reelection campaign has reported that it managed to raise over $30 million in the first quarter of 2019.

Nearly 99 percent of donations to Trump’s reelection were of $200 or less, with an average of $34.26.

Trump’s reelection efforts have currently accumulated $40.8 million, according to Tim Murtaugh, the campaign’s director of communications, who told CNN on Sunday. This amount is a record number for a presidential reelection campaign this far before the next election.

The Republican National Committee reports that it raised $45 million in the first quarter. Combined with Trump’s reelection funds, that’s a total of $82 million, the committee announced on Monday.

SLIDESHOW: TOP DEMOCRATS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT IN 2020

This amount tops the $79.6 million that ten Democratic candidates have reported. Sen. Kamala Harris of California reported raising $12 million, former Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas raised $9.4 million, South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg raised roughly $7 milion and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts raised $6 million. On Sunday, New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand reported raising $3 million, placing her near the back of the Democratic pack of those who have announced their fundraising totals.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent, has raised roughly $18.2 million.

Candidates are required to report their first-quarter fundraising and spending efforts to the Federal Election Committee by the end of Monday. Party committees aren’t due to report to the FEC until Saturday.

President Barack Obama, the last president to seek reelection, only began fundraising for reelection in April 2011 and, at the time, had less than $2 million in funds. But he went on to raise nearly $47 million during the first three months of active campaigning for his second term.
