President Donald Trump reportedly waited for his son-in-law Jared Kushner to ‘research’ whether or not he should declare a state of emergency in response to the coronavirus.
Trump, according to three people familiar with the decision, was hesitant to declare an emergency. He was reportedly leaning towards a more lenient approach in attempts to downplay the severity of the situation.
Nonetheless, Trump counted on Kusher to give him guidance. Politico reported that “the task force will not give Trump its final verdict,” until Kushner “finishes his research and comes to a conclusion himself.”
