President Donald Trump pressed Louisiana voters Thursday night to support Republican gubernatorial challenger Eddie Rispone in the run-off election this Saturday.
Trump visited Bossier City in an attempt to break the deadlock between Rispone and Gov. John Bel Edwards, a moderate Democrat.
“You got to give me a big win, please, okay,” Trump told supporters.
He talked about the need to oppose socialism saying, “You will deliver a powerful rebuke to the socialists trying to demolish our democracy.”

Trump also said, “A vote for John Bel Edwards is a vote for radical leftists.”
Edwards hardly falls into the same category as a democratic socialist or radical leftist.
Edwards’ reelection moderate platform focuses primarily on economic growth. His support for small business owners and tax cuts have kept him relatively popular amongst voters. And unlike many democrats, he is pro-life and signed the heartbeat bill, gaining the favor of several republicans.
According to an August poll by the nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute, 23% of Louisiana residents oppose abortion, even in cases of rape and incest — a rate higher than any other state in the poll. More than half of the respondents said abortion should be illegal in most cases.
Trump also addressed the issue of the ongoing impeachment inquiry, admitting the process “has been very hard on my family,” and insisted he did nothing wrong by asking Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden.
He also told supporters he would have no problem facing off against Biden for reelection, but warned they would see “the lowest ratings in the history of debates” because Biden “is a very sleepy person.”
