Trump Tweets That Democratic Debates Are ‘BORING!’

President Donald Trump tried to draw attention to himself on Wednesday during the Democratic primary debates by tweeting “BORING!” while traveling aboard Air Force One to Osaka, Japan.

Around half an hour into the first night of the primary debates, the president sent out a simple, yet eloquent, tweet, calling the debate “BORING!”

Later that night he posted another message, attacking NBC for forgetting to turn off the mics of the moderators for the first half of the debate. ” @NBCNews and @MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves for having such a horrible technical breakdown in the middle of the debate. Truly unprofessional and only worthy of a FAKE NEWS Organization, which they are!” wrote Trump.

The president has been worried about the amount of media attention that the Democratic candidates have been receiving and has been doing his best the past few weeks to draw attention back to himself. Trump succeeded in gaining national media coverage with his massive, 20,000 person reelection kickoff rally in Orlando last week, but since then the news cycle has largely been dominated by his opponents. The first night of debates also failed to center solely around the president. Instead, the candidates chose to define themselves in terms of their own ideas instead of as someone opposed to Trump.

SLIDESHOW: TOP DEMOCRATS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT IN 2020

The president was apparently watching the debates aboard the executive’s private jet, Air Force One, as he flew to Japan for the annual G20 summit, where leaders from all over the world will gather to discuss matters of global importance. Such meetings are always difficult for the president, who has a tendency to attack allies and embrace enemies. This summit has been no different, as Trump has bashed Germany, India, and Japan while acting friendly towards Saudi Arabia and Russia. So far the president’s alienation of America’s closest allies hasn’t had any significant repercussions, but as the situation in the Middle East deteriorates it remains to be seen whether the United States’ allies will stick with it if it chooses to pursue a military path.
