Former President Donald Trump filed a RICO lawsuit on Thursday targeting Hillary Clinton, the Democratic National Committee and others for working together to create a “false narrative” tying him and his campaign to Russia during the 2016 election.
“The Defendants, blinded by political ambition, orchestrated a malicious conspiracy to disseminate patently false and injurious information about Donald J. Trump and his campaign, all in the hopes of destroying his life, his political career and rigging the 2016 Election in favor of Hillary Clinton,” the 108-page lawsuit reads. “When their gambit failed, and Donald J. Trump was elected, the Defendants’ efforts continued unabated, merely shifting their focus to undermining his presidential administration.”
The complaint, filed in the U.S District Court for the Southern District of Florida, also accuses White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan, who was a Clinton adviser at the time, and former FBI Director James Comey.
The lawsuit asks for more than $72 million in damages, as his team claims that is the amount that it cost to dispute collusion with Russia. It comes over five years after the Republican President defeated Clinton in the election cycle under question.

The suit detailed a list of alleged wrongdoings.
“The actions taken in furtherance of their scheme—falsifying evidence, deceiving law enforcement, and exploiting access to highly-sensitive data sources—are so outrageous, subversive and incendiary that even the events of Watergate pale in comparison,” the suit added.
Trump’s effort to hold his opponents accountable also comes three years after former special counsel Robert Mueller‘s 448-page probe found that though the Trump campaign did not collude or conspire with Russia to elevate Trump to the White House, they were “receptive” to help from the country.
