Trump Says There Will Be ‘Wild’ D.C. Protest On Jan. 6, Day Of Electoral College Certification

President Donald Trump announced on Twitter that there will be a “wild” protest in Washington D.C. on Jan. 6, the day Congress is scheduled to certify the Electoral College results.

Former Vice President Joe Biden overwhelmingly passed the 270 threshold needed to secure the presidency. He garnered 306 electoral votes, and Trump received 232.

However, Trump has continued to promote conspiracies of widespread voter fraud, claiming it cost him the election. There has been no evidence to back up these claims.

“Statistically impossible to have lost the 2020 Election,” Trump tweeted. “Big protest in DC on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!”

The post prompted a warning from Twitter that the “claim about election fraud is disputed.”

Trump’s tweet was in response to a 36-page report from White House economic advisor Peter Navarro which included the baseless claims of fraud.

The Jan. 6 certification is the final step in confirming Biden’s victory and is expected to go smoothly, though a handful of Republican lawmakers have indicated that they will attempt to block the certification.
